Looking at a brand new storage room

Chicory growers Cees and Barry van Hooijdonk of Rijsbergen built a new storage room . During a meeting of the LTO ( Agricultural and Horticultural Organisation) one could see that the size of this room is almost 400 sq. metres and the height almost 6.5 m. In the storage room about 600 crates of about 2 square mtr. each are stored. The RELDAIR Fog system attached to the full width of the ceiling meets the demand for humidity. Isolation in the panels consists of 20 cm of polystyrene. Under the floor a 8 centimeter layer of polystyrene is applied. Between the evaporators and the top of the crates an apron is attached to direct air from the evaporators through the crates. The storage room is part of an open shed with a free spanning for the storage room of 40 by 16 meter. This spanning is used for storing empty crates and for sorting the chicory roots. Father and son van Hooijdonk grow approximately 35 hectares annually.
