Poultry Cooling down with RELDAIR The importance of pursuing the well being of animals is starting to be common knowledge. One of the results of this knowledge is the demand for a reliable system to reduce the temperature because heat stress in breeders causes loss of vitality, weight stagnation and ultimately a loss of profits. The reduction of temperature can be achieved by evaporation of water. Evaporation, however, is most effective when the water particles are very small. This can be done with the super high-pressure -120 BAR / 1,800 p.s.i. - RELDAIR Cooling System. The RELDAIR system achieves a drop of temperature with hardly an increase of the relative humidity and is affordable because it is easy to install and requires little maintenance. It makes a real fog that is quickly absorbed by the air, thus keeping straw and fowl dry. The system is safe and reliable (CE-standard).Nozzles are equipped with filters that help preventing blockage and clogging. The specially designed RELDAIR hose is flexible, noiseless and made to length and therefore easy to install.Operations and maintenance A temperature sensor measures the temperature in the chicken house and a steering control compares this measurement to the given value. If the temperature is higher than the required temperature, the RELDAIR pump will be activated into fogging. By way of a breaktank and filters the pump will give a constant pressure of 120 BAR/1,800 p.s.i. thereby creating average 10-micron size droplets.These droplets are that small that they create a very fine fog that evaporates in the air and does not reach the ground. This evaporative energy results in a drop of temperature.According to demands it is possible to use RELDAIR hose or stainless steel pipe. Nozzles can be installed under the beams or in front of the air inlets. Usually 1 nozzle per 2 linear meters is calculated. RELDAIR Cooling is supplied as a complete system. The system is CE-marked. This means that safety and solidity of all parts of the system are guaranteed. Special built-in filters in the nozzles help prevent clogging.Maintenance consists of checking the oil level and the water filters and the common maintenance for electric pumps.

RELDAIR Fog-Systems were invented to meet the demand for a solid and reliable system to control the relative humidity. The result was a very high pressure (120 BAR/1,800 p.s.i.) system that makes fine mist- droplets less than 10 micron- thereby controlling the relative humidity without wetting the plants. The first RELDAIR Fog-Systems were installed in greenhouses in the Netherlands in 1988 and they are still functioning well. Since then a lot of progressive and international operating growers and researchers, like for example Anthura b.v., Nunhem Seeds, Koninklijke Visser, several research institutes and others like the Royal Botanical Gardens and the Keukenhof, have chosen for our system.When the inventor of the RELDAIR Fog-Systems took over the firm in 1991, he adapted the system to fulfil another need of growers, i.e. the reduction of temperature in their greenhouses without loss of humidity. This adaptation led to an extension of the market to poultry- and turkey farms, tree nurseries and greenhouses in tropical and subtropical climates (Canary Islands, North Africa, Portugal, Japan, Greece, Cyprus etc.). RELDAIR Fog-Systems also developed a custom designed system for storage rooms (above as well as under 0°C). RELDAIR has concluded a successful experiment in stench suppression in co-operation with Ecosorb and has installed several systems in the recycling business and other areas that need a cheap solution to the problem of stench. Currently, RELDAIR is doing research in dust suppression.Whatever the market, the aim is to make a solid and reliable system that is custom designed, doesn't need a lot of maintenance and is easy to install. This aim, combined with a customer friendly policy, has led to a fast increase in sales during the last few years, in the Netherlands as well as abroad. Although this has led to an increase in employees and a move to new premises, we still make it our business to keep communication lines with customers as short as possible in order to give them tailor-made advice.For publicity we mainly give demonstrations and lectures and we attend shows like the NTV in Amsterdam, the Hortex, IPM Essen and the VIV.
